February 3

Last night I got back to working on this rug and it is almost done. Just a little around the edge and it will be finished. This is a Karen Kahle design and one of the few rugs I've made from other artist's designs. The only other one I can think of is a door topper that I hooked at Deanne Fitzpatricks workshop in Nova Scotia. Just thinking about that makes me want to go there again.
Nine of our rug hooking group took a "field trip" there for two weeks and had a marvelous time.
We rented two vans and visited rug hookers, museums, and folk artists all over Nova Scotia.
OK...since it's my birthday I thought I'd post some old photos of me. Bear with me.... in this one I am probably about 3 years old, taken at my grandparents home in Los Angeles.
This one is sort of goofy...kindergarten in Hermosa Beach. I am pretty sure I cut my own bangs!
First grade in Hermosa Beach. I remember that dress made of Lanz fabric, it was quilted and had little silver buttons and I loved wearing it.
Second grade school photo from South Pasadena~Marengo School...still cutting my own hair!
Look at those crazy bangs!
Jump to sixth grade at Marengo, those were the days of sweater sets and head bands!
And finally my high school photo from South Pasadena High School~class of 1966! A long time ago!
Satsumas from the Farmers Market! I've been going on Tuesday to pick these up for Justin's lunches and for my morning snack....so good right now! Sweet, seedless and easy to peel!

I have a fun day planned...lunch with girl friends, a beach walk, and dinner out with my boys tonight at Jane, a restaurant recommended by Maren.

Wow, I always feel like I'm so far away form everything and everyone when I read blogs, but your mention of Deanna Fitzpatrick excited me because I've been to her studio, and plan to visit this summer again. I'm about 3 hours away.

So sorry I missed sending you these Birthday wishes on THE day. Sending you intentions for oodles of perfect dip in the sea days this year. The rug is turning out to be a stunner. Love the photos. I still miss one of the dresses I had in the 50's.
Hugs,
Chris

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I hope you had a wonderful day with your friends and your boys. I wish you a fabulous year ahead.

Thanks for sharing these photos. It is so much fun to see how much changes and how much more remains the same as the years go by. The first photo reminds me a lot of Justin as a kid 10 years ago...
