Old friends....(and a hooked bird)

I made this hooked bird last night and today I will give him some legs and feet...
Yesterday I got to see my old friend from South Pasadena, Gordy Ryder. We've known each other since we were 3 years old and lived on the same street and went all through school together. He moved to New Zealand and now Australia years ago to raise his family, but comes back to the U.S. to visit family and friends about every 5 years or so. We got in a good visit and had lunch at Panino in Los Olivos with another school friend, Jack Biesek. So fun to connect with old school mates and talk about everything going on in our lives.
And here we are in third grade at Marengo School. That is Mrs. Garland, me and Gordy. Mrs. Garland was one of my favorite teachers and that was one of my favorite school years. I remember that my mother came in and gave us art classes and Mrs. Garland used to put her favorites up on the wall...I loved it when she put one of mine up there. I think she put my turkey drawing up and one I did of a girl in a raincoat. How weird that I remember that!
