Lovely day at Maren's...(Part 2)

Lots of photos....this rug from Deanne Fitzpatrick hangs in Maren's living room. It reminds me of our group's trip to Nova Scotia for one of Deanne's workshops...we had so much fun...I loved Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and the corner of New Brunswick that we visited and all the folk art that abounds up there.
Here are the girls hooking in Maren's light filled living room.
Food fresh from the garden....

Side view of the house with pool....laps, anyone?
Creamy white pumpkins lined up on the edge of the pool....

Lots of drought tolerant plants to enjoy....
Peppers, basil and other goodies in the vegetable garden..

Succulents with their soft colors....
One of Maren's beautiful hooked pieces graces the guest room wall.....two close-ups below....Don't you love the soft colors and hollyhocks!

Maren's "Garden" rug...she designed this herself....I think this should be in a magazine!
One of her first quilts and below her latest quilt....we all oooohed and ahhhed over this one!

Our rug hooking group met at Maren's beautiful home in the foothills of Santa Barbara. She and her husband designed and built their home ( with the help of a local architect)....it does help that Maren's husband is a General contractor...and she loves to garden. Each window takes advantage of the great views, from the ocean to the mountains and the light is just right for a group of rug hookers to get things done!
Maren always takes good care of us....she made us a luscious melon fruit salad from her garden, date bars (yum!), a fruit, cheese and meat platter and lots of things to quench our thirst.
And I almost forgot to mention the beautiful rugs she makes! and quilts! and fun folk art!
Is she amazing or what???

Wow, crazy. I am catching up on all the blogs I read using some sort of magic button on my browser toolbar and it doesn't give me the posts in any sort of connected order. So I've left you a comment about Deanne, and then read two more posts where you mention either her or Nova Scotia (home of my family and my soul!). Love serendipity.
