Road trip to Artfest.....

Early Sunday morning we packed the Landrover to the top, stuffed with our teaching and class supplies, 2 chairs to deliver to Portland, and our creations for vendor night.
We somehow missed our turn to the Bay area and headed on up to the Interstate 5 for a late lunch at Woodland. Our favorite Mexican restaurant had just closed but we found one in the same block that was just as delicious. We took a few photos of local store windows full of party dresses.

We made it all the way to Yreka for the night and had breakfast at one of our favorite stops "The Morning Glory" in Ashland, Oregon. We shared the lemon ricotta filled french toast with a side of scrambled eggs and were off to do a little shopping.
Websters is always a fun stop and we managed to find yarn and roving that we couldn't live without.
Lots of inspiration every way you turned. Above is an Artfelt purse.
Needle felted dolls....
After getting a bit lost (again) in Portland, we made it to our friend, Joely's house and took off for a great dinner at "Por que no?" nearby. Great food, and we even saw one of our Artfest teachers, Jesse Reno, who was having dinner there too.

Couldn't pass up the photo op in the dining room...me, Sue and Syd...
inside the restaurant...
Then in the morning we walked to another neighborhood place called "Slappy cakes" where you can cook you own pancakes at your table. You can add all kinds of fun things and make neat shapes. Great place for kids and yummy pancakes, too.
Sue and Syd about to order...

Joely, our hostess in Portland and our pancakes on the grill.
The girls next to us made this great spiral.
A fun little corner shrine next to Joely's corner...
Joely and Sue headed up to Seattle and Syd and I had some fun on Alberta Street. We found this nice bakery after looking around, got a mocha for the road on our trip up to Seattle.
One of the fun little shops on Alberta St.
Next door a shop with these incredible paper lanterns...and light fixtures.
We made it to Seattle and had to take a quick visit to Maxine's before meeting LE and John at the "Snappy Dragon" for dinner.
LE guided us down to the city for a fun visit to Kinokuniya and Daiso, full of wonderful things from Japan.
Lots of great books and other fun things....
And a nice mocha for the road back home. More photos tomorrow!

I'm so glad you found Maxine's! It's one of my favorite local stores. In fact, I just posted a bunch of pictures from her shop on my blog...I want everyone in the world to be able to have the Maxine-experience. My favorite part are the flowers on the wall just inside the door...I want to do that in my house sometime.
