Meet "Octavia"......

Octavia is a shy, velvety octopus who showed up the other day. She wants to go to Artfest and meet other Octopods with similar interests.
The theme this year is "sea monsters" and quite a few octopi are showing up. I have a few more ideas in mind. Now I know why I have saved that box of velvety fabrics in my art studio. Haven't decided whether Octavia needs those little "suction cups" on her tentacles...could sew on buttons or little felt circles...still thinking about it....

And below is a fabric collage I put together last night.....and we have our rug hooking meeting this coming Monday night so I better get started on something! I had two calendars made for our group with our own rug hooking photos for each month and can't wait to see how they turned out. I am hoping they come in the mail today or Monday before meeting time. I used "Qoop" that I found on the "Flickr" site....hope everyone likes them!

the velvet makes a great softie, was it trouble to handle?

Octavia is tooooooo cute, she can drop by my house any time. I wish I lived close enough I'd be first in line for Artfest. I hope Octavia will send you pictures of her trip.

Mary,
I Love Octavia....she reminds me of a velvet frog that I still have from my childhood....it's back is velvet and it's underbelly is tapestry...the bad thing is, the hard plastic eyes are all chipped up...if I remember too I think I'll cover it's eyes with some sort of fabric.
Of course I'm always in love with anything you do that has houses on it!

Octavia is gorgeous! I never would have thought to use velvet for an octopus, but it's perfect.
